Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice (BSCJ) - Concentration in Human Services
The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Human Services is designed to provide a solid foundation in law enforcement, the courts, and corrections, while equipping the student with a Human Services core that will prepare the student for Human Services work in the Criminal Justice context. Special emphasis is placed on working with youth. Additionally, the student will complete the coursework needed for professional work in chemical dependency. Students will also have the opportunity to gain valuable experience provided through the Internship component of the program.
What skills can I learn?
Students who successfully complete the BSCJ with a concentration in Human Services should be able to:
- Demonstrate professional written and verbal communication skills
- Resolve complex problems independently and ethically
- Demonstrate knowledge of the psychological and sociological dimensions of human behavior and crime
- Demonstrate competency in the key areas of the criminal justice system
- Demonstrate knowledge of the core activities and skills of the Human Services professional in the context of the criminal justice system
- Demonstrate appropriate knowledge and skills of the chemical dependency professional
- Examine and integrate the emerging trends in the criminal justice system
